The Birds, the Bees and the Monkeys was pulled together from a truly astonishing amount of material. The expanded triple CD version of the album has multiple versions of 44 different songs ranging from simple acoustic demos to completed tracks. Talk did record several tracks during the sessions but he spent much of the time recording and re-recording a single song, Ladies Baby. He racked up huge studio bells on the track, bringing in Steve Stills and Dury Martin of the Buffalo Springfield and Buddy Miles to help him capture the sound in his head.
