OCD - The Stick and the Carrot

Whenever I fall back into trouble with OCD, it's because I've got stuck in problem solving mode. Rather than journaling or doing any number of other helpful activities that I know help me, I fall back on the old and familiar compulsing. These days I'm able to recognise when I'm doing this and put the brakes on fairly quickly. This is only because I have systems in place that help me to stay focused on the things that help me rather than the old bad habits that clearly don't.
