Why Are You Covering Your Eyes?

I remember when I was in kindergarten so I went to Jewish day school in Shiva and my family wasn't religious so I didn't understand a lot of the the practices but I remember the there's this affirmation of faith who is called the Shema. You're supposed to cover your eyes and I remember like everyone covered their eyes all the kids covered their eyes and I thought why are they covering their eyes? So that sense of everybody else understands it but me is what kind of propelled me towards philosophy.
