Gary Marcus: It strikes me politically as unlikely that we're going to have an effective prohibition on the development of these highly intelligent AI models in part because there's dynamics of geopolitical competition between different countries and so on. He says if he were king I would say let's pause on building artificial general intelligence until we feel confident that we can solve the alignment problem.Marcus suggests international agency like Atomic Energy Agencies with scientists working on the problems.
