The Product Failure of a New Product in the Market Place

One of our portfolio companies was in the process of building a new product. They had an existing product, and they wanted to do something around premium or other things. The product took a life of its own, and they started marketing it for about 50 dollars a user. Their current product,. which did the same thing, had an a s p of three thousand 500. And so there was a thought process in the text books around if you get people to use it, it'll continue to grow. But in fact, it was a product failure because the the product they were trying release was a premium product that was lead into their enterprise product.
