The Roll of Profits and the Roll of Managers

I want to talk about a short piece you wrote over at meses dot org related to one of the insights that you've had while at business school. You were talking about a lesson that was teaching that any given manager has four levels of responsibility. The lowest responsibility, as i'd been taught in my business school, was to simply just earn a profit and be just this greedy old business man just making money. I remembered looking at it and saying, that's simply not how it works at all.
