Rick Rubin: I've had some close-up seats to watch the seeds germinating for quite a while now. The general consensus was that sounds like a lot of work and it's not the book that anybody necessarily wants from you. This is the only book that was interesting to me to work on. Over the course of a year I might get to work with a handful of artists. Probably the most albums I've ever produced in a year would be eight which is a lot for a record producer. But in the world of artists it's a tiny fraction.
