Liquid Is a Trade Off in the Middle
Bitcoin is a little federated, but it's all a trade off, right? So you could say, people using exchanges, that's like a single custodian risk. You saw with FTX most recently that that can be extremely bad when it goes wrong. For rebalancing lightning channels, it's actually quite interesting because they can rebalance cheaper and faster. And so even if you don't use it, you benefit from the approval of liquidity in the network.
