Nietzsche's Criticism of the Socratic Culture
Nietzsche makes a criticism that I think is a bit long-winded and it's one of the weaker points he makes so a gloss of fair amount of section 19 but he to state it directly he says that the innermost content of the Socratic culture we live in the Alexandrian culture is he calls it the culture of the opera. He says for a design this department that this culture has expressed its aims and perceptions with special naivete which is surprising when we compare the facts of operatic development with the eternal truths of the Apollinian and the Dionysian.
