The House of Tonic on Stockbridge
Ives is one of my favourite American composers. It just really kind of conjures up this real American feeling but there's so much kind of ominous noise around it. I love that idea of borrowing other people's music and he quite often does it with folk music. In this one it's a hymn tune that you heard whilst there's pieces about a walk along the House of Tonic River in New England. But in the background they could hear this choir singing or this congregation singing.
