When engineer Chris Hansen took over as the manager of the extravahicular activity office, he inaugurated a norm of posing questions like Ellen's. The power lies in its frankness. Its non-judgmental expression of doubt and curiosity that doesn't put people on the defensive. Creating psychological safety is easier said than done so I set out to learn about how leaders can establish it.
