The Importance of Disabilities in the Media

I think people are surprised because they don't really see us. Either we're not able to be present because we're excluded through ableism, through accessibility or failure to anticipate our needs in planning. I did feel a little bit like there was some sort of appreciation during lockdown that people understood what it's like to not be able to leave the house. But as we've got kind of further away from those early days, I feel like perhaps the change isn't as lasting.
