The Queen's Official Residence at Windsor
Windsor is the largest inhabited castle in europe, spanning 13 acres of land. At over 900 years old it has its own 20 person fire brigade. The queen receives a private annual income of some 20 million pounds from the duchy of lancaster Estate. Although the crown jewels are owned by the stat the queen's private collection is considered to be priceless. A royal palace is too valuable to insure, and there are estimates of a 60 million pound bill. Many feel that the queen should pay out of her own wealth. So instead, the queen launches a fund raising drive which kicks off with a two million pound donation of her own public pledges raise 30 % of the necessary funds
