"When morals decay that those beings who one calls tyrants first make their appearance," he writes. "In his time the individual is usually most mature and consequently the culture is highest and most fruitful, but not on his account nor through him." The Caesar or the Napoleon, he lives only for himself, right? As Napoleon makes clear in that quotation, every explanation for his actions is simply, thus I am. He's this type of atavism which feels himself separate from all the world, right? But people even actively espouse this ideology today, just to live in the moment, don't worry about the past or future.
