The Relationship Between Limitation and Subjectivity
The concern here is it's not just about hey let's pay attention to the analysts now, like that can be sort of portrayed as something of a caricature of relational thinking. It's the idea that if the analyst is constrained and limited that we're actually not giving the patient the full opportunity to engage with the analyst as a full subject. And achieving full subjecthood is kind of an ongoing process. It's in a sense never achieved. We're just always going towards it. In that in going towards it the patient is transformed.
