Marcus Grechus, in his Lieber Ignium at Comberrendos Hostis, describes what is virtually the modern cracker and also a primitive form of rocket. Fryer Roger Bacon, 1214-1294, refers at least twice to compositions containing salt-peater, powdered charcoal, and sulfur.
