The Origin of Small Pox in West Africa

Virus probably evolved out of a rodent pox virus probably in Africa and perhaps about 4,000 years ago this is really debated so it's hard to put some some date on the origin but that would correspond in West Africa to the to the rise and expansion of agriculture. Climate change may have spurred the emergence of small poz in in West Africa and actually apparently of monkey pox virus also. From there it may have spread then to out of Africa towards towards the Near East Europe and in Asia and causing the disease we know from historical records.
