The Paradox of Our National Security
There's a real paradox in the debate about our national security right now. If Putin wins in Ukraine, that will embolden Xi Jinping as he thinks about invading Taiwan. But conversely, if he loses in Ukraine,. that will make him think harder about invading Taiwan; and I was just in Taiwan five months ago. And somehow this, this notion that we can look weak in Europe and yet we're going to be strong against China is a misreading of how those things are related.
