The Theory and Practice of Creole Grammar
The Theory and Practice of Creole Grammar brought Thomas significant recognition. He connects the role of Proverbs as a form of seeking and disseminating knowledge in his own time to their use in the non-Christian setting of traditional African life. In 1873 he was elected a member of the Philological Society of Britain. From the late 1870s onward, however, he was beset by oneness that disrupted his career and his literary efforts.
