What's the Difference Between a Muslim and a Migrant in East Leicester?
In the 70s and 80s, most of the migrants that arrived into East Leicester were from India. The new community has lived in isolation with their own communities. But now they are suddenly living with a wider community base. They've landed at a time where we've had Brexit - it's difficult to disentangle that from these kind of political forces. Pakistani Muslim narrative is a narrative again being played out if you look at the Indian news channels. It fits their narrative that Pakistan is oppressing the Hindus. That is not the case.
