There's a sense of deja vu in our current moment, right. We see this paper that's come out from open AI saying that chat GPT and related technologies are going to take, they say 49% of our jobs. Back then there was already the sense that it wasn't just robots, but also simple machine learning and deep learning algorithms,. which are also the basis in many ways of the chat G PT and generate AI revolution.
Paris Marx is joined by Aaron Benanav to discuss OpenAI’s claims that generative AI will take our jobs, how previous periods of automation hype haven’t resulted in mass job loss, and why we need to ensure it doesn’t further empower employers.
