In recent years, there seems anecdotally at least to be a groundswell of progressivist opinion that philanthropic donations by the wealthy are somehow inadmissible. What is your position on this matter? And what do you see as the implications of discouraging, if anything, donations by high income earners on the balance between state and civil society? Well, I'm glad you used that as an example, because I think it puts us on to some terrain that we haven't explored very carefully yet. I said we might disagree on which is this nature of social change. But when we start setting about designing changes, we run into the same problems that we run in any kind of design problem.
