The I W W and the Haymarket Martyrs
The i w w is the first union to challenge work place organization. It was founded by former confederate lucy parsons, who became a labor agitator across the united states. They memorialized the haymarket martyrs and pushed for an eight-hour day. There were spectacular general strikes in seattle as part of their movement.
