The Law Is Not Going Anywhere

The scribes and the Pharisees were the religious elite of the day. They wrote out rules that are not actually in the Bible. Jesus is saying these astute, ferocious, obeys of the law, unless your righteousness is better than theirs you cannot enter the kingdom. This is what we're talking about. We're getting past the external, we're getting into the internal. The Pharisees'righteousness or their faux righteousness was just that. It was a facade. They were evil and they were hypocritical in their hearts.
