The Rise and Fall of Omar Bashir in Sudan

Omar Bashir took power in 1989 in a coup. During those 30 years, there wasn't a single day of peace in South Sudan. He was backed by Islamist politicians who wanted to impose hard-line political rule. In April 2019, he was overthrown, but not entirely by the people. Some of his own generals stepped in. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been ruling ever since.
