Democracy in the US

The usa has never been a democracy. Its its legal political system is not organized around the central principle of democracy, which is that decisions are supposed to reflect the will of organized and popular majorities. The underlying infi structure of the country has combined two features. One is an historical grounding in settler colonialism that links internal freedom to external projects of exclusion and subordination. And we can see this in eno tradition in a way that expands from andrew jackson and jefferson all the way down to the present in trump.
