How to Make Steel Without Emissions
The way steel is made today is through a pyrometallurgy process that uses coal energy. We first melt the iron ore at about 1600 degrees Celsius using coal as a source of energy and that carbon is also used to then refine or reduce or transform iron ore into pure iron. There is no CO2 coming in this process as far as most people would understand the process.
