The seventh symphony I think is a wonderful entrance point. Joseph Kerman's book, The Beethoven Quartets,. It's very technical, but I feel like you can sort of breeze through the technical stuff and get to so much psychological stuff and historical stuff. And just for sheer fun, the eighth symphony. Corión made it that, maybe my favorite.
