Being in a writers group is I believe the single fastest, fastest accelerant that you can have control of outside of taking classes. You need people who are willing to go without sleep occasionally for an hour or two because you need feedback quickly on a project of yours. The writers group is the key and you need to fire your writers group if they don't have time to give you feedback. Your materials are ready when your whole writers group is responding the way that you think people ought to be responding to your writing,. i.e. if it's a comedy, they're laughing. If it's a drama, they're getting emotional in the right places."
