The Importance of Good Taste in Education

Dowe: A lot of our initial dispositions are just set by family. They are set by that accidental learning that goes on in just social proximity to people. So if we come out of that with bad taste, we can take plenty of art, history, courses, whatever, and still not be able to rectify it. Dowe: School has to extract from the real world things that are deemed to be important for students to be exposed to. It must have value, such as introducing people to ariety of cultures that they might not encounter otherwise.
