The sublime is not just some higher gradient of beauty. To edmund burke, the beautiful and the sublime are two different things hat are mutually exclusive. He actually says explicitly, these waters must be troubled before they can exert their virtues. And this brings us to ammanuel kant, who is, in my opinion, the second greatest commentator ever on the sublime,. Second only to a man named arthur schopenhauer which we'll talk about soon.
