We're All Like David, but We Are All Like Him
We are a mix of sinner and saint, every one of us. We desire ego, reinforcing praise and we can quietly do what's needed without reward. The way that evolution happens is in the process of moving into disequilibrium with who we are. When we have courage and are humble, we take egotistonic behavior to push ourselves to literally ange our minds. That is the meaning of repentance.
