Benzino - The Early Years of Hip Hop?
"Street Beat" was founded in 1993 by Dave May and Ben Zien. In the early '90s, they had a dispute with two of their original Harvard partners that were the editors of the magazine. "I felt like the success of the source was going to their heads," says May. The editor's walkout led to his departure from Street Beat; he went on to found another hip hop publication called Source.
