I appreciate Corlysse bringing up his reservations about this Lenore death. Even if it maybe was a stretch, I feel like Corlysse was supporting Rainy's there. Eve Best said that that was one of the moments that turned her character around for Rainy. One of the reasons she didn't burn everyone at the coronation was because she wasn't sure Rainy was going to be a good enough leader.
