"I could smile at night. I would say you're right," he says. "They are all the same techniques." It's getting somebody to talk, get them to let their guard down and make them feel like they have complete control in a hostage situation. Nobody believes that it works. They just think it's crazy. If I mirror someone, they're going to know that you just used a hostage negotiation trick that Chris Voss taught you out there. But they love it.
