The crisis was this monta ripo, as i described in the early part of that essay. twitter had grown up, sort of two separate mono repos that had taken cross dependencies on each other. So it could just take a really, really long time to get changes made,. And so it had kind of been decided that weere going to go all in on ona monto repo. But git just wasn't designed for the size of repo we had.
