Fikret's Journey to Freedom
Fikret Alich escaped from a concentration camp during the Bosnian war. He hid in a bundle of blankets for three days before escaping with other women and children as part of a prisoner exchange. The journey to Croatia was 18 hours long but Fikret didn't give up hope that he would be able to get treatment there. After waking up, it was in the hospital he was first shown the photo of himself in a newspaper which helped him regain his health.
