It has to do with the whole arc of an artist's work if you look at the Beatles Beatles are always a great example because they're really as good as it gets. Lincoln Park came to me after they had made I think three of the biggest rap rock albums ever made and there was some question about what do we do next. The idea to shift out of being just a rap rock group and try different things was a good thing in the case of chili peppers.
