The Polish Air Force's Challenges in the First 6 Days of the War

Polish aircraft continued to launch sortie after sortie, but every day there would be fewer of them. Polish squadrons were forced to begin moving to airfields further east as their previous homes were threatened by German advances on the ground. In total, over the first 6 days of the campaign, the Polish Air Force would lose about 40% of the number they'd started the war with. The Luftwaffe would also lose about 126 aircraft, but this represented just 7% of their number from September 1st.
