The First Annual Reminders of Gay Marches
Early gay marches were held every July 4th from 1965 to 1969 in Philly at Independence Hall. A dress code was enforced, jackets and ties for the boys, dresses for the women. They didn't have huge turnouts because they're boring. The time for gay liberation had begun because of something that happened one week earlier from July 4th, 1969. People remember when people threw mala-tops at cops who tried to arrest them for cross-dressing and kissing other boys or whatever.
