There's zero evidence that the united states has ever been a hegemon even at the end of world war two where its gross national product was what 40 something percent of of the world now. i think the u.s may have had a kind of hegemony in the caribbean and latin american but instead of acting responsibly it abused its power, says John Avlon. The most powerful state the world has ever witnessed is increasingly incapable of using its power to maintain the global economy and the global peace this is all rubbish according to Avlon.
