The Jubilee of the Social Order
In pre-capitalist systems, in the ancient world, there would be a periodic moment of jubilee where all debts would be wiped clean so that the social order could be maintained. The debt-based social order can only lead to collapse because there is no one in a position of power who can call a jubilee because they owe somebody too. When you don't have that outlet, your social order collapses. It's happened every time. And our economy is driven by the settling of debts and also interest on the other side of the scale.
