The Problem of Localism in the United States
Rajan: Not all communities are created equal. Rajan calls this focus on and impowerment of the community inclusive localism. The worry is that if we allow for this kind of local empowerment, because the centre has always been more liberal than the local,. And that kind of segregation creates that unlevell playing field which becomes deeply problematic. We will need to rediscover community - not just because it is socially necessary but also economically important.
