CHAPTER

The Scale of eBay's Observability

I was struck by the scale of your operation. Can you give us some sense of the scale of the observability for eBay? Sure, yeah. With regards to metrics, at least at any given point in time, we roughly have like 2 and 1 1,.000,000 Prometheus and points that are being scraped. So there are a lot of complex use cases that we have built. We also have a huge logs platform that's there which pumps in roughly 15 petabytes of logs every day. And all these, basically, are the squaring. I shouldn't say squaring. They're bombarding the system with at least 10,000 queries per second at any moment.
