I think a lot of people are just headline-driven. They don't look into actual details and that sometimes causes people to make an error in thinking. I saw some stat recently where people were estimating how many trans people are there as an example, right? But they wildly overestimated the number because maybe it's like the number of times they repeat a message,. It just makes it people think about that in their minds.
