Having a Sound Mem Pool Is Critical to Bitcoin's Security
You can't always update your fee. What if it's your own transaction? You can always just replace it by resizing a second one. But if it's like a lightning channel force close, it's a two of two multi-sticks. So I need my counterpart to sign it, which isn't always reliable because of it could be offline or trying to screw me over or something. And you can't do that without having an accurate mem pool. In other chains like Ethereum, like they don't even have a mem pool anymore. It's just like an API to infer and stuff. This is really bad for the future of Bitcoin if we kept it the old way.
