Sandman: A Novel About the Serial Killer
In Sandman, Lucifer gives the keys to hell over to the Lord of Dreams. The idea came from a 19th century French cleric who once announced that he believed in hell because it was church doctrine but wasn't required to believe there was anybody down there. "I always loved the idea of an empty hell and the serial killer convention," says author Neil Gaiman.
