In the mid-4th century BC, what's the geopolitical situation in Italy at that time? Well, effectively you've got Rome establishing itself as a major power in central Italy. You've still got some quite powerful Etruscan states, particularly in the northern part of Etruria. By the end of the Pyrrhic war, which is the blast of these big wars in 275, effectively what you've got is Roman control established over everything south of the little pole.
