The Lord's Dispensing of Resources
Onon is a self-centered, self-concerned, I think greedy and self-interested man. He refuses to do his duty for his dead older brother. And so what happens? The Lord puts him to death. At that point, Judah doesn't want to lose any more sons. Perhaps because he thinks Tamar is just like always in us. She's troubled. Yeah, maybe he's figured out she's a Canaanite. This is not good.
