The Crazyness of Whips in Religion
There is a sect of the Catholic or Christian religion where this is practiced all the time. It made me very reminiscent of Excalibur with the Lancelot crew after he walked away, and they're all walking there and saying negative things about it. And so you see this in many places. The idea that a person who can preach compassion and love and forgiveness really wants you to take a whip and beat yourself with it? Is just, again, to me, that seems crazy.
